Adult Members

We offer varied levels of adult rowing from recreational to competition for all age groups from teens right through to masters.  Our masters and senior men and women regularly compete at events all over the country.

On a local basis, many West of England Championships are won each year by seniors and masters, and the squads travel to events outside of our WEARA region too, including the Metropolitan Regatta, held on Dorney Lake, and the Tideway Head races in London.

Nationally, there have been athletes rowing at Henley Royal Regatta and Henley Women’s Regatta on a regular basis. Laura Macro, currently training at the Club, is a two-times Henley Women’s Regatta Championship Lightweight Single Sculls winner, and won the Lightweight Double Sculls with fellow club-member Louise Manning at this year’s HWR. Laura followed that up by taking the LW W1X title for England at this Summer’s Home Internationals.

The Club has also had many individual athletes training for Great Britain selection. Bill Lucas and Barney Stentiford, former juniors, went on to race at the World U23 Championships, and Bill Lucas raced in the Men’s Double Sculls at London Olympics 2012. In 2008 Nicola Spencer represented GB in the World U23 lightweight single sculls event, having trained at Totnes. At the very top level for juniors, the Club has produced athletes that have competed for Great Britain at both the World Juniors and the Coupe de Jeunesse, the most recent of these being Matt Swiss in 2015 who raced at the Rio World Junior Championships.

Our Masters group has a wide range of ages and some of the most successful competitors in the country at national and world championship level, always returning from Henley Masters, British Rowing Masters, EuroMasters and the World Masters with medals. The group trains regularly on the Dart and they welcome other keen aspiring scullers to join them.
